Warner Leisure Hotels, a Bourne Leisure portfolio company, has further expanded its portfolio by acquiring two hotels, including its first hotel in Scotland.

The adults-only hotel chain, which is backed by Blackstone, acquired the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club near Edinburgh and the Forest of Arden Country Club in Birmingham.

Bourne Leisure CEO Paul Flaum said: “We are delighted to add these two wonderful hotels to our portfolio, each with fantastic facilities and both in excellent locations, including our first-ever hotel in Scotland.

“Our confidence in the future growth prospects of the company continues and we look forward to redeveloping the hotels to a high-quality signature Warner Leisure Hotels offering.

“The compelling brand and short-break proposition, which includes entertainment, dining and daytime activities at the hotel, mean our guests continue to return to enjoy the unique experience that Warner Leisure Hotels offers. We very much look forward to introducing a whole new audience to the experience too.”

Situated on 1,000 acres of land, Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club is a four-star hotel that boasts 215 bedrooms.

It features two restaurants, two bars, two golf courses, a leisure club, tennis courts and conference centres.

The property is located 30 minutes away from the centre of Edinburgh and 50 minutes from Glasgow.

Forest of Arden Country Club is a four-star golf hotel situated on 10,000 acres of woodlands.

It features 214 bedrooms, two golf courses, including a championship course, conference facilities, several lounges and bars, tennis courts and a leisure club.

It is situated in the Midlands and is also within a 20-minute drive from Birmingham.

Warner Leisure Hotels's portfolio includes Heythrop Park, which opened in September 2022 in the Cotswolds and was recently renovated.

It also includes Studley Castle in Warwickshire and the recently acquired Runnymede, scheduled to reopen between June and August of 2024, on the Thames in Greater London.

With the recent additions, Warner Leisure Hotels’ portfolio has now grown to 18 properties with more than 4,000 rooms.

Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club and Forest of Arden Country Club will continue to be independently managed under their current scheme before their relaunch under the Warner Leisure Hotels brand.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
