Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened La Quinta by Wyndham Ellerslie Auckland, its first hotel in the New Zealand city of Auckland, as reported by HospitalityNet.

The property is the second La Quinta by Wyndham hotel in the region of Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim (SEAPR), joining La Quinta by Wyndham Remarkables Park Queenstown.

It further marks the 12th hotel developed by New Zealand’s Safari Group and launched by Wyndham.

Additionally, it is the fifth Wyndham property to be managed by Safari Hotels, a division of Safari Group.

The other four Wyndham properties managed by Safari Hotels are La Quinta by Wyndham Remarkables Park Queenstown, Ramada by Wyndham Queenstown Central, TRYP by Wyndham Wellington Tory Street and Ramada Suites by Wyndham Christchurch City.

La Quinta by Wyndham Ellerslie Auckland has 246 rooms and a convenience store that serves fresh groceries, snacks and pre-prepared hot meals.

It also features a design that reflects aspects of the City of Sails, along with 150m² of event space with a capacity to accommodate up to 40 guests.

Among the other amenities provided at the hotel are a café, a fitness centre, free Wi-Fi and onsite parking.

Located in the suburb of Greenlane, the hotel is close to a range of dining and shopping attractions.

Guests at the hotel can also enjoy taking a walk in Auckland Domain and Cornwall Park.

Situated an eight-minute drive away from Auckland Showgrounds, the property targets business travellers looking for a convenient and comfortable stay.

Meanwhile, the third La Quinta by Wyndham property, in partnership with Safari Group, in the SEAPR region is currently under development and is scheduled to open in mid-2024 at Parnell, Auckland.

In August, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts opened its first Wyndham Grand property in Poland.

Currently, the hotel franchising company has 9,100 hotels across almost 100 countries.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
