Gayatri Park Hyatt is a five-star, superdeluxe hotel under construction in Hyderabad, in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. The 253-room and serviced apartments hotel is being constructed in a prime location at Banjara Hills on an area of 1.25ha.

Construction of the Gayatri Park Hyatt hotel was started in 2007 and it is expected to be opened in 2012. The hotel development cost was estimated at Rs3.5bn ($67.7m) in 2008. It, however, increased by Rs1.5bn ($29m) by January 2011 due to design changes in the initial stages, according to credit rating agency ICRA.

Design and structure of the Gayatri Park Hyatt

The 27m high, eight-storey hotel structure will have a gross building area of 55,700m2. It includes a mezzanine level, a lobby, guest rooms on four floors and serviced apartments on the top two floors.

An atrium rises through the height of the building. An 8.23m tall undulating fibreglass sculpture was installed in the 40m long pool of the lobby in April 2011.

Named ‘Becoming’, the dynamic matte white sculpture was fabricated by US-based Polich Tallix. A controlled access to the guest rooms and apartments will be provided from the lobby with registration areas.

Accommodation and suites in the superdeluxe hotel

The Gayatri Park Hyatt will have one Presidential Suite, one Diplomatic Suite, six Executive Suites and 15 Junior Rooms. It will also include 131 Park Rooms, 51 Twin Rooms and three rooms for the physically challenged. The service apartments will include two three-bedroom apartments, 22 two-bedroom apartments and 20 one-bedroom apartments.

Dining facilities and restaurants at the eight-storey five-star hotel

The Gayatri Park Hyatt will have a bar, lounge areas and three restaurants – The Dining Room, an Italian Restaurant and Teppanyaki Restaurant and Bar – offering multicultural cuisines. The hotel will serve Indian, Italian, Western and Japanese specialities.

The Dining room will be a 24×7 dining restaurant, located at the lobby level with intimate spaces for all guests. It will serve Western and Indian food including local specialities such as Hyderbadi Biryani.

The Italian Restaurant will be located at the mezzanine level and have a lounge-style bar. It will include a show kitchen and two wood-fired ovens.

The Teppanyaki Restaurant will also be located on the mezzanine level and include zones such as a Cigar and Cognac Library, Whiskey Library and the restaurant and bar section. It will offer cuisines using traditional Japanese Teppanyaki grills.

Conference / meeting facilities of the 253 room luxury Gayatri Park Hyatt

The hotel will have about 1,595m2 conference and ballroom space for meetings, conferences, convention and events. It will include seven meeting rooms and a pre-function area with a dedicated Convention Services team.

The pillar free ballroom will be divisible into three sections. The hotel will also have a Business Centre with complete administrative support, secretarial services, wireless Internet, laptops on hire and so on.

The hotel will have Hyatt Pure Spa and Fitness Centre. The spa facilities will include seven treatment rooms, grooming and beauty studios and an outdoor swimming pool.

The amenities at the hotel will include tea making facilities and coffee machines, international newspapers, iron and ironing board, flat-screen televisions, in-room safes, minibars, hairdryers and individual air-conditioning control, satellite and cable TV channels, separate work stations with high-speed Internet, dual-line telephones and voicemail in every guest room.

There will be indoor underground parking facilities for visitors and guests, valet parking, airport transfer services, babysitting, dry-cleaning, laundry and pressing services, 24-hour concierge and room service, rooms for the disabled, currency exchange and wireless internet in public areas.

Developers / contractors with a role in the Hyderabad hotel

Gayatri Hi-Tech Hotels is the developer and owner of the hotel. It will be operated by Hyatt International under a 25-year agreement.

Gayatri Projects, a subsidiary of the promoter, is the civil contractor. John Portman & Associates is the designer of the project.

Hirsch Bedner Associates is the interior designer. Axis Facades is the façade consultant. Bentley’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) software was used for the building design.

Tyrrell and Laing was awarded a contract to supply 90 Oceanus and three Imperia luxury tubs for the hotel.
